ALCC holds 2024 National Women’s Week

The Women’s Fellowship of the Amazing Light Christian Centre (ALCC) marked a significant milestone with the 9th edition of its annual National Women’s Week celebration. The event, which was held from the 2nd of December to the 8th of December 2024, centered on the theme “The Beatitudes,” drawing inspiration from the scripture to empower women of the church.

From December 2nd to 6th, evening services were held at ALCC’s Gloryland Assembly branch in Kasoa Amanfrom, Central Region, running from 6:30pm to 8:30pm each day. The week-long celebration culminated in a grand finale on Sunday, December 8th at Kasoa Bethel Assembly, also in the Central Region, which served as the event’s highlight.

This service saw a joint front between Dansoman Dynamic, Zion, Bethel, and Gloryland Assemblies. The branches in Volta similarly held a joint service in their region to mark the event.

Speaking at the main event on Sunday, Clinical Psychologist and Senior Administrative Manager at the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in Cape Coast, Isaac Dankwa addressed issues on Maternal Mental Health and the risk factors involved with it.

He advocated the need to reach out to others when we notice changes in their behavior and seek psychiatric help immediately signs are noticed before the situation gets worse.

Tackling the prevalence of mental issues in Ghana and how anyone stands the risk of suffering from depression, postpartum blues, bipolar amongst others, the Women’s Week sought to provide some education on this. Mr. Isaac Dankwa, Senior Administrative Manager at the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in Cape Coast spoke on postpartum blues; a common emotional response that mothers go through shortly after conception. He indicated that this should normally last about 2 weeks, however, if it exceeds this timeframe, we are advised to seek help.
